Strains for Helping with High Blood Pressure

Strains for Helping with High Blood Pressure

Health & Fitness

Hypertension (high blood pressure) is a condition that affects around 75 million citizens here in the US. This means that around 30% of the adult population of the USA now suffer from hypertension. These are alarming figures and hypertension can be especially problematic when it comes to expectant mothers. Coupled with the fact that it is estimated that around 1 billion people worldwide also suffer from hypertension, this is a global problem that needs to be addresses. One treatment solution being proposed is medicinal cannabis.

Medical professionals sometimes characterize high blood pressure as a “silent killer”, as you will most likely go about your daily life as normal, and then become seriously ill once the condition reaches a head. This means that a serious health condition could be around the corner. It can be expected that high blood pressure ultimately leads to stroke, heart attack and even heart failure.

A normal heart rate of around 115/70 mm Hg (millimetres of Mercury) to 120/80 mm Hg is a healthy measurement. The first number in this case is the pressure at which your heart beats blood around the body, whilst the second number is the pressure of your heart when it is at rest before it beats again.

Which strains can help? Here are our recommendations:

Blue Dream

Blue Dream is my own personal favorite for reducing blood pressure. It is a strain that can easily relax the user of the strain in a quick period of time. There is plenty of anecdotal evidence out there which comments positively on the effect of Blue Dream. It is also useful in the treatment of such conditions as chronic fatigue, as well as attention deficit disorders.

Another strain to consider is Green Crack. This may sound like a crazy name, but it is proven to reduce blood pressure. The THC concentration of Green Crack is on the high side (approximately 20%), so it is recommended that you build up some kind of tolerance to THC before you use Green Crack for the first time. Not only does it reduce blood pressure, Green Crack is excellent for reducing pain, so is perfect for arthritis sufferers.

Sour Diesel

Lastly, we would recommend Sour Diesel. This strain is formed by a cross of Northern Lights, Chemdawg and Skunk No. 1. Again, like Green Crack, it has a high THC concentration of roughly 22%, with a CBD concentration of 0.2%. Anecdotal evidence points to the fact that the strain is great for reducing stress, which in turn reduces blood pressure.
