May 16, 2011» Yukigassen Canada to Enter Small Canadian MarketsYukigassen Canada announced today that a "Partnership Package" has been developed that will make the sport of Yukigassen available to all sizes of interested groups in Canada. Designed specifically for smaller areas and populations, this affordable "turn-key" package includes a training video and a full "How-to-Yukigassen" manual on how to play the game and host an event of any size. "This is an important step in the growth and sustainability of the sport in Canada by reaching out to all areas and people in the country. The larger populated centres will continue to host the regional and national events but we now have the tool kit to introduce the sport to all regions including their ability to host a sanctioned qualifyer event", says Yukigassen Canada Executive Director, Carrie Ferguson. The package will also include a solid steel snowball maker, pinnies for players and referees, whistles, snow shelters and more. March 7, 2011» National Champion Crowned!Yukigassen Canada is delighted to announce that "The Grizzlies" have won the Canadian National Yukigassen Championships! All piling into a van from Saskatoon, this young energetic team worked their way through to the finals to capture this historic national title! Over the next few months, along with getting their name etched into the national championship trophy, the Grizzlies will be busy training to compete at the World Championships in Japan next February.In the co-ed division, we would like to congratulate the "Ice Cubez" on winning the national title! A fabulous weekend of fun and competition filled Fort Edmonton Park with over 100 teams and 1,200 people involved! |

"The City of Saskatoon is one of the best locations in Canada for Yukigassen - their history of sport and community participation made it a very easy decision", says Yukigassen Canada Executive Director, Carrie Ferguson. "Tourism Saskatoon and the Sport Tourism Board are clearly focussed on growing tourism by attracting new, innovative events to the city. We are anxious to grow this event and eventually bring the National Championships to Saskatoon". In the January event, winners of Yukigassen Saskatoon will have the opportunity to compete in the National Championships in Edmonton March 4-6.
